Definition:

The hard disk is a round, metal platter in the hard drive of the computer; it stores large amounts of information.

Explanation:

The hard disk has a magnetic coating. It is sealed into the hard drive and often installed inside the computer where you can't see it.

Important: Storage of files on the hard drive is permanent until you delete them, as opposed to storage in memory (RAM), which is temporary.
